Tension Free Necks
“The only replacement guitar neck you should ever consider.”
The Tension Free Guitar Neck
Bunker Guitars has sold thousands of guitars, each with its own exclusive Tension Free neck. Both right and left handed guitars benefit from this amazing technology. But now you can own a custom made Tension Free guitar neck for your Fender Guitar (Stratocaster or Telecaster), Ibanez RG Series, Paul Reed Smith guitars, or any other instrument with similar dimensions. The long narrow piece of wood that you wrap your hands around is structurally weak. It will not take more than 60 to 120 pounds of string compression stress before it tries to bow forward. Yet the typical guitar neck must be built to resist 200 pounds of compression in order to create good tone and playability. What the Tension Free neck offers:“Incredible tone and sustain in a custom guitar neck…an engineering genius.”
What Is It?
Tension Free refers to the patented Bunker guitar neck innovation that removes structural stress to any wood resulting from tension that is created when the strings are tightened to musical pitch.A Tension Free neck will make your guitar sing with a clarity you never experienced before.
“The tension free replacement neck is every guitar player’s dream…”
How Does It Work?
Structural stress in wood changes its internal acoustics and works against qualities of natural tone and sustain that you find in only the highest quality instruments.Think for a minute about the Stradivarian qualities of blending natural materials to create natural tones and you will begin to understand the simplicity and importance of this concept.
“Keep your guitar body…but replace its neck.”
What Do Other Manufacturers Use?
Other manufacturers truss-rods and graphite systems put pressure to stiffen the neck to keep it from warping. This creates stiffness which keeps the neck from resonating as well. But the Bunker Tension Free system frees the wood up to resonate which increases the overall sustain, improves the tone, and allows consistent tonality down the entire neck. All popular guitars…with the exception of those with the Tension Free neck…use a low grade steel truss rod in conjunction with or graphite stiffeners, through the neck and into the headstock to stiffen the neck and keep it from warping. Hard rock maple is a common requirement for guitar necks because it is one of the only woods that will withstand heavy stress without breaking. But we have already seen and heard what stress will do to defeat tone clarity.“An Insiders’ Choice…this premium guitar neck...is now available as a stand alone.”
Can I Use Any Wood Now?
With the Bunker Tension Free system, virtually any wood can be selected for your own custom guitar neck. The selection criteria is internal resonance, not strength. That means that acoustically superior Western Maple, Mahogany or any other wood can be chosen…. including Hard Rock Maple. Not a single ounce of stress will interfere with the naturally resonant qualities of that wood.“Boeing Missile Engineers did the stress testing…”
Who Uses The Tension Free Neck?
How about Arlen Roth who proudly says: Arlen Roth is a studio session artist and the founder of the popular "Hot Licks Video" Series. And many other unsolicited guitarists that you can read in Guitar Forums around the net:“It is one of the guitar world’s least known masterpieces of engineering.”
